COURSE DESCRIPTION

The aim of the Informatics Practice is to educate students for the use of modern information technologies for effective research work in life sciences; the theoretical and practical bases of computer-aided data analyses, presentations, preparation of paper- and electronic-based documents.

Syllabus

  1. General information, hardware and software environment of the practice, CooSpace
  2. Introduction to spreadsheets using MS Excel (input and import data, validation, references)
  3. Evaluation of health data with spreadsheets (data types, calculations, functions)
  4. Evaluation of health data with spreadsheets (logical functions, sorting, filtering, vertical lookup)
  5. Evaluation of health data with spreadsheets (special functions, basic statistics, charts)
  6. Evaluation of health data with spreadsheets (tables, regression, pivot table)
  7. Test

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE COURSE

a./ Evaluation: at the end of the semester the student has to pass a practical test (maximum 100 points). 

b./ Requirement for the completion of the course: Participation on the Practice. No more than one absence. Passing the practical test.

c./ There is no end-semester final exam.
